Who is Obinna Chuku?
I’m a strategy adviser, creative leader and writer based in Accra. My work connects human insight, creativity and technology to the decisions businesses need to make. Obii to some. Spyda to others.
Twenty years of following the question.
My experience spans building brands, leading creative teams and working across African markets. My regional creative leadership remit covered 23 markets in West and Central Africa. Before that, I studied computer science at Ashesi; later came further study in AI and disruptive strategy at Oxford.
Some of my most useful research happened at five in the morning, helping a trader open her stall in Accra. There are things you only learn when you turn up. That is the thread connecting my creative work to my thinking about technology: understand the person before deciding what to build.
What do I work on?
Retail, marketing, communications, product development and business transformation. AI belongs in that conversation, alongside the creative and strategic judgment needed to decide where it is useful.
I also write about friendship, memory and who we are when the job title comes off. Curiosity doesn’t keep office hours.
